Communication

Connect

Connect is a secure online environment developed ‘in-house’ by the Department of Education for staff, students and parents in public schools and is an exciting new way for parents to stay in touch with their child’s school journey. Parent participation in Connect is optional. On joining, your child will be able to share with you what they are learning about, submit assignments and discuss issues together online anywhere, anytime – in fact easy access to information relevant about your child’s classes and learning such as assessments, teacher feedback and attendance data. If you have multiple children you only need one login – even if your children attend different public schools.

To become registered to use Connect you will need to complete the Connect Conditions of Use for Parents and complete the Parents Registration Form. Both of these will be/have been sent home with your child/ren but copies are available from the school’s administration.

Parent Nights & other contact

Two formal parent evenings are held each year where you can meet teachers to review your child’s progress. Informal contact can be ongoing as required by teachers, students or parents. In 2017, the two parent evenings will be held on dates to be confirmed. Please see the school calendar for further information.

Newsletters

You will receive a newsletter twice per term. As well as being sent electronically they are available on this site. See links below. Please ensure your current email address is registered with the school in order to receive your newsletter. If you do not have an email address, a hard copy newsletter will be mailed to you.

Reports

Formal academic reports are issued twice a year at the end of semesters 1 and 2.

Daily notices

Daily notices are used for internal communications. They are read each morning and provide notices of activities, excursions, events, etc.

Approved Specialist Programs

Inductions will occur for new families to Approved Specialist Programs at the start of each year. Regular informal contact occurs throughout the course of the year in addition to parent support group meetings. For more information contact the relevant ASP staff.
